About Me

"An autobiography usually reveals nothing bad about its writer except his memory." ~ Franklin P. Jones

For the multitude of folks out there who don't know me, and probably could care less, here are a few things you might want to know:

I was born and raised in Alabama.  I attended Kennedy Grammar School and Woodlawn High School in Birmingham.  I consider myself an Alabamian, though I have not lived there since 1980.

I served in the Army for twenty-four years, mostly in the 82nd Airborne, with three tours in İzmir Turkiye, two years with the British Parachute Regiment, and three years as the Sergeant Major at VMI Army ROTC.  I was a member of Class 47 at the Sergeants Major Academy.

I retired from the Army six days before the planes hit the Towers to work at a small college in the Shenandoah Valley.  I continue to wear my uniform, but can't wait for the day I can live in jeans, grow that short beard I have always wanted, and see more of the world.

I am married to a beautiful Alabama girl and we have two fantastic children and one rambunctious grandson.

Pleased to meet you.
