Kahve and Biscotti 2009
I took hundreds of photos of this young woman over the course of ten years, more photos than of anyone else. I have deleted most of those photos. These are some that I kept.
My first impression of her was not good; mousy little girl, I thought. My opinion changed at an Army dining-in. She looked great. I spent the evening positioning myself where I could look at her and her incredible legs without being obvious.
She began seeking my advice on becoming an officer, and I determined to photograph her.
Over my coffee and her biscotti, we became friends. When I asked her if I could take her photo, she was all about it.
I became her Photographer; she was my favorite subject. The more we worked together, the more confident she became. I became a better photographer.
Then, life happened. She married a bad guy, left the service, divorced, worked at a thankless job, drank too much, and put on gobs of weight.
The collaboration ended, but the photographs are still good.
